Tom Runs

I'm not only running for office, I run. The picture above is me crossing the finish line at the Battle Day 5K Road Race this year. I try to run it every year, along with a couple of other races. But mostly I just run. You may see me heading down Elm Street towards downtown, or up to the Monument, or wherever the whim takes me.

If you do see me running around town, you may notice I have earbuds in. Every wonder what I'm listening to? Well, wonder no more!

I have pretty eclectic taste in music. It ranges from pre-Renaissance dance music, to Classical, to 20th Century orchestral, to jazz, Rock, Metal, Grunge, Bluegrass, Blues and even a little Country and Folk.

Lately, I've been exploring Progressive Rock and especially Prog-Metal. That would probably explain the ringing in my ears that isn't going to go away. If you listen to the links here, keep the volume at a safe level.

And rock on!

My Semi-official Campaign Song:

Karnivool is a Prog-Metal band from Australia. I like their music, and I really like their politics: fighting for the rights of Indigenous Peoples and against Facism. Give a listen to All I Know and then ask yourself "Are you with me? Are you of like mind?"

If you'd like to hear more from Karnivool, here are a few I recommend (note that some of the lyrics are NSFW):

Goliath Simple Boy Umbra
Deadman Themata

Not Your Cup of Tea?

I get it. Music that speaks to me may leave you cold, and vice versa. But if you want to explore my taste in music further here are a few more songs to try. If you want me to head in a different direction entirely, musically at least, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with. My playlist is very long and what's here doesn't even break the surface. Or better yet, suggest a couple of things to me and if I like them, I'll add them to this list!

Elder: Sanctuary Elder: Halcyon
Elder: Catastasis Kolm: Aquarius Initiation
Kolm: Vast Expanse Kolm: Umbra
Kolm: Entheotheosis Kolm: Ripple
Kolm: Pull of the Archer

Here are a few that are (mostly) a total change of pace from the above:

OSI: Radiologue Opeth: Windowpane
If These Trees Could Talk: The Giving Tree If These Trees Could Talk: Solstice
Porcupine Tree: Arriving Somewhere Porcupine Tree: Sentimental
Gojira: Born in Winter Klone: Interlaced
